Be green in Lucy

The Green Office at the Lucy Cavendish Students Union is responsible for the development of the Union’s Environmental Policy and raising awareness of environmental issues that affect students at College. This office is in place to help students at College live sustainably and raise their concerns regarding environmental and sustainability issues with the College.

At College

Lucy Cavendish has onsite recycling and composting facilities. We encourage students to be proactive about their waste, please recycle and compost wherever possible. The College offers vegan and vegetarian options at every meal. We encourage students to think about choosing the vegetarian option at Formal Halls, even choosing one vegetarian meal a week can make a difference in the fight against climate change. For information about climate change and what you can do to help, WWF Fight For Your World, offers lots of information.

Winners of Student Switch Off Campaign 2019

Lucy Cavendish has a Green Impact Team that works hard to constantly review and improve the College’s sustainability. For the past two years, we have won the Green Impact Gold Award, recognising how much Lucy Cavendish has done to promote sustainability and environmentally friendly practices among both staff and students. We have also participated in the Student Switch Off Campaign, winning the competition in 2019. This is a campaign to encourage students to think about their footprint within halls and reduce energy consumption where they can.
